Survey Article:
Interesting article on 1580 low carb dieters who answered an online survey. The majority had improved blood markers of diabetes, 25% had medication cost savings (average $288 per month!). Also, use of pain relievers / anti-inflammatory medications dropped. Sure its just survey data, but if a new drug achieved these results it would be all over the news. 50% of respondents were under 30g carbs per day, 97% were below 100g. Very doable.
Overcome:
For anyone who is dealing with an obstacle right now, here is a nice short piece on how to turn a negative into a positive. When faced with a potential negative situation, ask yourself “What’s great about this situation you’re not seeing right now.” Taken alone, the question is not as powerful. But when used with examples, it works.
See a variation of the question in this article by Ryan Holiday. (What am i missing by choosing to worry or be afraid?”)
Mindfulness and the Brain:
Mindfulness meditation appears to improve the brain in many ways. Scientific investigation into meditation is exploding. Of the studies conducted thus far, certain time frame thresholds have been loosely established.
Folks who meditate for a few months (roughly 30 hrs in 8 weeks) will see benefits in stress recovery. Meditate for 7 hours in 2 weeks to improve your compassion. For enhanced attention, you only have to clock 8 minutes of practice!
Slow Cooking:
Very easy recipe for Chicken Cacciatore in a slow cooker. Use an Instant Pot if you have one to sear the chicken before switching over to slow cook. Otherwise brown the meat in a skillet and then move to a crockpot. Throw it together in the morning, come back to a foolproof delicious dinner.
